oath of...." and then ordered to be registered; to eliminate redundancy, 
these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved

The last will and testament of Duncan Brown proved by Donald 
Matthews

Emanuel Lamb bound apprentice to Jesse Dickinson untill he arrive to 
the age of twenty one years now be fourteen

William Regan appointed surveyor in room of Jacob Rhodes who 
entered into bond with John Cain and Joseph Wood his securities

Administration on the estate of John Matthew granted to Donald 
Matthews who entered into bond in the sum of two hundred pounds 
with John McFarland his security & who returned an inventory of said 
estate

Court adjourned untill tomorrow ten oclock

Tuesday January the 8th 1799

Court met according to adjournment 

Present the worshipful Sampson Bridgers Thomas Barnes & John Fort 
Esquires

Ordered that John Buie Alexander McNeill & John Galbreath be 
patroles in Captain Buies district

Daniel Johnston Peter Kelley Hector McNeill Duncan McNeill Robert 
McLachlan William McNeill John McKay Alford Rowland John Daniel 
Britain Barnes James Moore & John McNeill fined 5/ each for thier 
nonatten[dan]ce as Jurors this term

Ordered that Josiah Barnes be overseer of the road in room of Meady 
Lamb

Agerton Willis William Sterling and John Baggett fined four shillings 
each for a contempt of the authority of this court

Sheriff returned the venire Facias from which the court selected the 
following gentlemen to attend as grand jurors during this term / to wit / 
Samuel Bridgers foreman Thomas Musslewhite Michael Herring 
William Regan Kedar Hawthorn Malcom McNeill Archd Buie James 
Russel John Powell John Barnes Benjamin Lee Daniel Loe & William 
Waters and John Blount constable sworn to attend them

Ordered that Daniel Collum Duncan Brown Samuel Danielly Angus 
McCollum Dugald Grayham Daniel McLain Daniel McInnis and Angus 
Brown work on the roads the[y?] formerly worked on

Angus Gilchrist who was possessioner [processioner?] on the north 
side of Drowning Creek came into court and resigned as such when 
Nevan McBryde was appointed to that office

Ordered that Samuel Bridgers be overseer of the road in room of Joab 
Willis and John Rogers hereafter work under him

Ordered that Nathan Pitman Junr be overseer of the road in room of 
Thomas Townsend

Ordered that Silas Drake be overseer of the road in room of William 
Moore

Ordered that Charles Powell be overseer of the road in room of Lewis 
Tiner
