["eight pence" lined through] on every hundred acres of of land 1/6 on every hundred pounds town property in the county for the year 1798 Robert Haills sheriff allowed thirty five pounds for his extra services for the year 1798 and Josiah Barnes clerk allowed twenty pounds for the same year Elias Barnes Esquire who was possessioner [processioner?] on the south side of Drowning Creek came into court and resigned when Needham Rowland was appointed to that office Ordered that a commission issue to some justice in South Carolina to take the deposition of Samuel Porter a witness on behalf of John Willis in his suit against Angus Gilchrist giving the defendant thirty days notice Ordered that William Ashley John Fort Joseph Wood James McNeill & James McQueen Esquires be a committee to examine the papers held by the sheriff and county treasurer for the year 1797 and report their proceedings to next court Ordered that all the inhabitants that is subject to work on the road & that lives in the fork of Drowning Creed & the Great Swamp shall in future work on the bluff road and be added to Page 61 [image 33b] the district that work under Simon Willis Ordered that the sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend at the next term as jurors / to wit / Peter Smith Neill Thompson Daniel McMillan John Molloy Alexr McGeachy Duncan Little Benjamin Lancaster Mark Powers Benjamin Willis John Mun?
