oath of...." and then ordered to be registered; to eliminate redundancy, 
these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved

The sheriff returned the Venire Facias from which the court selected 
the following gentlemen to attend as grand jurors during this term / to 
wit / John Molloy foreman Alexander McGeachy Duncan Little Mark 
Powers John Munn John McMillan Peter Kelley Isaac Bird Agerton 
Willis John Clibourn Noah Pitman James Humprhrey & James Baxley - 
and Samuel Biggs constable sworn to attend them

John Furguson exempt from paying the tax on 500 acres of land which 
he appears to stand charged with more than he gave in for the year 
1798

James Tinor exempt from paying a poll tax for the year 1798

John McBride appointed overseer of the road in room & district of Neill 
McEacharn working all the hands that worked under said McEacharn 
as also McEacharn

Alexander Johnston apointed constable in Captain Buies district who 
entered into bond with Alexr Patterson his secuirty

Alford Rowland who was fined last term for his nonattendance as a 
jurot came into court & made his excuse when the fine was accordingly 
remited

Ordered that Jacob Blount be overseer of the road in room of Joshua 
Ammons

Ordered that John McEachran be overseer of the road in room of Hugh 
Bane

Rule on Willis Barfield to show cause ? enlarged

Alford Rowland appointed constable in Captain Lees district who 
entered into bond with Needham Rowland his security
