oath of...." and then ordered to be registered; to eliminate redundancy, 
these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved 
by...."]

At a county court of pleas and quarter sessions begun and held for the 
county of Robeson on Monday the fifth day of October and twenty sixth 
year of American Independence AD 1801

Present the worshipful James McNeill Saml Biggs & Duncan Campbell 
Esquires

The sheriff returned the venire facias from which the court selected the 
following gentlemen to attend as grand jurors during this term / to wit / 
Jonathan Wishart foreman Ralph Regan Malcom McMillan Sanders 
Carlisle James Russel Patrick Smith James McRee Benjamin Lee 
Duncan McEacharn William Humphrey Henry Bird Samuel Willis and 
Moses Hill and John Bigg[s] constable sworn to attend them

Ordered that the sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend at 
the next Superior Court to be held for the district of Fayetteville / to wit / 
Ralph Regan Hugh Brown William McNeill James McNeill & Alexander 
Rowlander

John Gilchrist & Patrick Smith who was fined last term for the 
nonattendance as jurors came into court & made their excuse when 
their fines was remited

Sion Pitman exempt from working on publick roads & the creek

Patrick McEacharn who was appointed as a Justice of the peace by a 
dedimus potestatum & Commission of the peace came into court & 
took the necessary oaths for his qualified as such & took his seat 
accordingly

said Justice certifed under his hand & seal that Samuel Porter
