On petition ordered that there be a road from Simon Coxes to the Bear 
Springs on Jacob Swamp and that the sheriff summon the following 
gentlemen to lay of the same / to wit / Henry Purvis, Levey Cox, Simon 
Cox, Newit Pitman William Atkinson, Meredith Barnes, Jethro Barnes, 
Curtis Suggs, Wiley Taylor, James Taylor, Josiah Ivey, Jacob Pope, 
Josiah Barnes, Benjamin Lee, Simon Cox Senr

Court adjourned untill tomorrow nine oclock

Wednesday October the 7th 1801

Court met according to adjournment

Present the worshipfull John Rowland John Little & Robert Haills Esqr

On petition Duncan McFarland is admited to rebuild a grist mill on 
Buffallow Branch of drowning Creek at the place anciently known by 
William Hawls old grist mill

On motion of Jacob Blount to be released from the force and 
opperation of an order of court against him made at April Term 1801 
relative to the maintenance of a bastard child by the name of Thomas 
Blount the court having bound out the said child at this term ordered 
that the order passed at April Term aforesaid against said Blount be 
recinded

Isaac Dyson appointed constable in Captain Watsons district who 
entered into bond with Sion Alford his security

Bill of sale from Gorton Chase to John Noyes proved by Joseph Belton

Deed from Robert Haills to Albritain Drake & Josiah Barnes 
acknowledged

Esquires

William Flowers who was fined last term for his nonattendance as a 
juror at this term his fine was remited

Ordered that Archd McPhatter be overseer of the road in room of 
Duncan McLauchlan & to work John Pursell John Gilchrists hands and 
Neill Browns hands [in margin: "this order issued at court"]

Ordered that the sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend as 
jurors next term / to wit / John McNeill James Furgerson Angus 
McBride Nevan McBride Neill McMillan Archd McMillan Samuel 
Rowland Angus Love Henry Pope James Pitman / big / Mathew Jones 
John Clibourn Slaughter Hill Angus Curry Ithamer Gaddy Thompson

Administration on the estate Christopher Mercer is granted to Nancy & 
Colin Mercer who qualified as such and entered into bond in the sum 
of one thousand pounds for their faithfull administration with John 
Regan and Robert Haills their securities
