At a county court of pleas and Quarter sessions begun and held for the 
county of Robeson on Monday the fourth day of April and twenty 
seventh year of American Independence AD 1803

Present the worshipful Elias Barnes Duncan Campbell & John Little 
Esquires

The sheriff returned the Venire Facias from which the court selected 
the following gentlemen to attend as grand juros during this term / to 
wit / Hugh Brown Foreman Angus McGill Neill McGill Robert 
McLauchlan Peter Lamon James Humphrey Angus McDugald Hector 
McMillan Washington Cade Wm Brown Archibald Smith Neill McAlpin 
& Archd Rae and John Rae constable sworn to attend them

Ordered that Alexander Grimes be overseer of the road in room of 
Hector McMillan

Last will & testament of Finlan McCorvey proved by Daniel Smith and 
admited to record when Hugh Brown Neill Buie Danl Buie Edward 
McCorvey & Naprez McCorvey qualified as executors to said will

Ordered that the following hands hereafter work under William Gilchrist 
overseer of the road / to wit / John Pursel & his hands Malcom Gilchrist 
& his hands Archd McMillans hands Randoll Curries hands and 
Malcom McLeod

Ordered that John McEacharn be overseer of the road in room of John 
Buie

Ordered that John McDaniel be overseer of the post road from 
Campbells Bridge to John McPhauls old field & the hands work on said 
road as they formerly did under John Millan

Ordered that Gilbert Brumble pay to Pheby Cox five pounds for the 
year 1803 for the maintenance of a bastard child whereon he stands 
charged to be the reputed father

Ordered that Henry Purvis be overseer of the road from the Bear 
spring on Jacobs swamp Simon Coxes and that the following hands 
work under him / to wit / Jospeh Atkinson William Atkinson Curtis Sugs 
Josiah Ivey Wiley Taylor James Taylor Levi Cox Simon Cox Junr 
Benjamin Lovet Henry Lovet Meredith Barnes Jethro Barnes & Jesse 
Barnes

Administration on the estate of Saml Kennedy deceased is granted to 
Roger McSwain & Duncan Campbell who qualified as such and 
entered into bond in the sum of five hundred pounds with Daniel 
Campbell their securities

Ordered that the admr of the estate of Saml Kennedy deceased sell 
said estate and return an amount of said sales to next court

Ordered that the sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend as 
jurors of the next Superior Court for the District of Fayetteville / to wit 
Thomas Sewell Robert Haills John Little Elias Barnes & Noah Pitman

Ordered that Jacob Pitman be overseer of the road in room of Robert 
Bullard
