John Flowers Esquire returned an execution at the suit of Hardy Moore 
against John Ratley for eleven pounds five shillings and costs levied by 
Ishabud Davis on one hundred and ten acres of land where said Ratley 
now live ordered that the sheriff sell said land

Ordered that Benjamin Lee Nicholas Powell & Wm Herring Esqr settle 
with Thomas Davis admr of Philemon Arnet deceased and make report 
thereof to this court

Benjamin Blount appointed constable in Captain Drakes district and 
entered into bond with Joshua Hawthorn his security

Robert Haills Esqr appointed Treasurer of the publick Buildings & 
entered into bond in the sum of five hundred pounds with Noah Pitman 
& Wm Norment his securities

Isaac Dyson appointed constable in Captain McArthurs district and 
entered into bond with James McNeill his security

John McPhatter appointed constable in Captain McNeills district and 
entered into bond with Neill McNeill his security

The last will and testament of Elizabeth Cross proved by William 
Moore and admited to record when James Bryan on of the execr 
qualified

Administration on the estate of Shadrack Barfield deceas'd is granted 
to John Chisholm who qualified as such and entered into bond in the 
sum of two hundred pounds with James McQueen his security

Josiah Barnes clerk entered into bond as the law requires with Joseph 
Wood & John Rowland his securities

Court adjourned untill timorrow nine oclock

Wednesday July the 6th 1803

Court met according to adjournment

Present the worshipful Elias Barnes James McQueen Joseph Wood & 
William McNeill Esquires

Edwin Jay Ausburn Esquire admited to practice as attorney in this 
court

State vs. James Lacklair Pettit Larceny the Defendant charged and 
pleads not guilty The following Jury was sworn to well and truly try this 
issue of Travers / to wit / Samuel Rowland James Russel Lachlan Rea 
Archd Buie Benjamin Blount Archibald Rae William Kinlaw James 
Jackson John Willis Simon Willis Peter Lamon & William Thompson 
on their oaths find the Defendant guilty when the court ordered the 
sheriff to take him to the publick whiping post and there give him thirty 
lashes on the bare back was executed accordingly

John Biggs constable made it appear to this court that he attached 
seven head of cattle of Aaron Cumboes at the suit of William 
Townsend and Mitchel Biggs and that he kept them forty days for 
which the court is of oppinion he should be allowed fifty shillings to be 
paid by the defendant

John McDaniel entered into bond in the sum of one hundred pounds 
with John Biggs his security for the maintenance of a bastard child of 
Betty Lamon? whereon he stands the reputed father
