At a County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions begun and held for 
the County of Robeson at the Town of Lumberton on Monday the 1st 
day of July and Thirtieth year of American Independence 1805

Present the Worshipful Joseph Wood James McNeil Duncan Campbell 
and John Little Esquires

The sheriff returned the Venire Facias when the court selected the 
following gentlemen to serve as grand jurors during the term to wit / 
Jacob Rhodes (foreman) Thomas Shanks Jacob Blount Job Baxley 
Thomas Musslewhite David Rozier John Willis Simon Willis Alexander 
McGeachy Duncan McArthur Angus McGill Kedar Hawthorn Neil 
Thompson when also John Ray was sworn to attend them as 
constable

Ordered that Neill McLain be overseer of the road in room of John 
McNeill

Ordered that Peter Munroe? be overseer of the road in room of John 
Little

Ordered that Danl Mathews be overseer of the road in room of Danl 
Nevans

Ordered that James Lamb be exempt from the payment of a tax on 
250 acres of land & one poll for the year 1804 given in by mistake

Deed from Isaac Sullivan to Robert Upton proved by Morgan Drury

Deed from Jesse Jernigan to Ebinezar Ellis proved by Burrel Vick

Tuesday July the 2d 1805 Court met according to adjournment

Present the worshipful James McNeill Joseph Wood & Joseph Regan 
Esquires

Ordered that Britton Britt pay to Treacy Looper the sum of nine pounds 
for the maintainance of a base born child to begin from the birth of the 
said child during one year

Ordered that a dedimus issue to John Regan Esquire to take the 
deposition of William Regan a witness to a deed from Samuel Dubois 
attorney in fact for Samuel Meker to William Ashley

Ordered that a dedimus issue to John Regan Esquire to take the 
deposition of William Regan a witness to a deed from Samuel Dubois 
attorney in fact for Samuel Meeker to John McLeod

Ordered that Daniel McIntosh be exempt from the payment of the tax 
on eighty six acres of land given in by mistake for the year 1804

T? Taylor who was bail for John Gowing came into court & 
surrendered the said Gowing in discharge of said bail
