County court minutes 1797-1813, North Carolina, Superior Court (Robeson 
County) – 1806-1813

William Ashley Esquire returned an Execution against ? Taylor for the sum of 
Twenty six pounds eighteen shillings & six pence and Nine Shillings cost at the 
Inst of Burwell Vick levied on land on the No. side of Drowning Creek 
containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less the property of said Taylor 
by Ansell Powell Cons Ordered that the sheriff sell the same

Nicholas Powell Esquire returned an execution against Willis Taylor at the 
Instance of John McNeill for the sum of one pound five shillings & ten pence 
and 9/ costs levied on lands of Willis Taylor on Grassy Bay by Ansell Powell 
Constable ordered that the sheriff sell the same

William Ashly Esquire returned an execution against Isham Pitman for the sum of 
fifteen pounds four shillings & two pence with interest from the third day of 
March 1806 untill paid and 13 shillings cost levied by Lewis Johnston Cons on 
one hundred and fifty acres land the property of Isham Pitman Junr on the Great 
Bay near Capt Sterlings ordered that the sheriff sell the same

Ordered that the County Treasurer pay the Coroner the sum of forty eight 
shillings for holding an inquest on the body of Redding Thompson


Ordered that Colin McLachlin be overseer of the road in room of Daniel McDugald

Ordered that a Certain Negroe Woman named Lucy fomerly the Property of Colonel 
John Regan be liberated on the petition of said Regan he having entered into 
bond in the sum of one hundred pounds with Jacob Rhodes his security

Ordered that John Purcell Archd McNeill Esqr & John McPhaul be a committee to 
divide the estate of Daniel johnson deceased and report to next term

Ordered that Gilbert Brumble pay to Fereby Cox the sum of (/) pounds for the 
maintenance of a bastard child for the past year

Ordered that John McBryde be overseer of the road in room of Angus Curry and 
work the former hands

Court adjourned untill tomorrow 10 oclock

Thursday April the 9th 1807

Court met according to adjournment

Present the worshipfull John Regan William Ashley John McNeill Esquires

Ordered that Archd McNeill Esqr (Baron) be and is hereby appointed Ranger in 
this County and allso Jonathan Wishart appointed Ranger in the same County

Ordered that the sheriff summon a jury to lay off the dower of Nancy Lamb widow 
of Meedy Lamb decd and make report to next court and that the same jury or any 
five of them divide the Perosnal Property of said Estate among the heirs

James McQueen and Robert Haills Esqr was appointed Deputy Clerks for the County 
Court and Duly Quallified as Such

Ordered that John Blount Cons be allowed the sum of thirty two shillings for 
his attendance this term
