Deed from Angus Monroe to Mary and Elizabeth proved by John 
McGirt

Deed from John Brumble to Gilbert Brumble proved by William 
Coleman

Deed from Thomas Barnes to John Hammons acknowledged

Deed of gift from William West to James West acknowledged

Deed from Ithamer Gaddy to Charles Thompson Junr proved by Joab 
Willis

Lauchlin McLain apppointed guardian to Sarah McLain a minor orphan 
who entered into bond in the sum of one hundred pounds with John 
McGirt his security

John McColl one of the administrators of the state of John McKay 
deceased returned an inventory of said estate and returned an account 
sales of said estate amounting to £16..2..8..4/3

The Execr of the last will & testament of Archd McLain deceased 
returned an inventory of the deceaseds estate and ordered to be filed

Charity Arnet widow of Philemon Arnet petitioned this court to have her 
dower laid out of her deceased husbands estate, when her petition was 
heard & granted, ordered therefore that the sheriff summon a jury to 
lay of the same, and further ordered that Joseph Lee Esqr Charles 
Bullock Senr Isham Pitman & Daniel Lowe meet & lay of one years 
provision for the self and family out of the estate of her deseased 
husbands estate and make return thereof to the next court

Court adjourned untill tomorrow ten oclock

Tuesday January the 5th 1802

Court met according to adjournment

Present the worshipful Elias Barnes James McQueen Sion Alford 
Esquire

Thomas Sewell William Norment & Zachariah Jordan was appointed 
as Justices of the peace by a Dediumus potestatum & Commission of 
the peace came into Court and took the necessary oaths for the 
qualification as such and took their seats accordingly

Ordered that Jonathan Wishart be overseer of the road in room of 
Samuel Willis

Ordered that Stephen Sterling Esquire Ishabud Davis William Sterling 
& Giles Williams meet and lay out one years provision out of the estate 
of James Lewis deceasd as will support his widow & family one year & 
make return thereof to the next court

Ordered that judgment be entered up against Solomon Kersey as 
guarnishee of Joshua Barfield in favour of John Lee for one hundred 
and ten pounds and that so much thereof be condemned to the use of 
the plaintiff as will discharge his debt and costs and that execution 
issue for the same

The court proceeded to the election of an entry taker when Thomas 
Davis was elected as such and entered into bond with John Regan 
Esqr & Absalom Davis his securities and took the necessary oaths for 
his qualification as such when the following justices were present / to 
wit / Zachariah Jordon James McQueen Elias Barnes Thomas Sewell 
Sampson Bridgers John Regan Sion Alford Wm McNeill John Little 
Danl McPhaul Patrick McEacharn & William Norment
