County court minutes 1797-1813, North Carolina, Superior Court (Robeson County)

Wednesday July 6th [1808]

Court met according to adjournment present
The worshipfull Sampson Bridgers William Sterling & Peter Lamon Esquires

Ordered that Israel Campbell be overseer of the road in room and district of 
Noah Mercer

Ordered that Jacob Rhodes and Peter Lamon be a committee to settle the estate of 
Gorton Chace and report to this term

Ordered that a certain Negro girl named Doll the property of the heirs of Wright 
Legget deceased be sold by the administrators at a credit of six months and that 
the proceeds of the sale be equally divided among sd heirs

Ordered that Thomas Sewell and Peter Lamon esqrs be a committee to settle the 
accounts of Sampson Bridgers County Treasurer and that they report to this term

Ordered that the County Treasurer allow the sheriff in the settlement of his 
accounts the sum of sixty four pounds an shillings being the amount paid to 
Richd Powell for repairs done to the court by an order of court at January Term 
1807

Ordered that Sampson Bridgers County Treasurer be allowed the sum of nine pounds 
ten shillings for his commissions on the public accounts for the year 1807

Lewis Johnson appointed constable in Captain Sterlings district and entered into 
bond with Jesse Lee his security

Administration on the estate of Duncan Graham deceased was granted to John 
Murphy who entered into bond with Nevan McBryde and Absalom Davis his securities 
in the sum of two hundred pounds

Duncan McAlpin appointed surveyor of this county and entered into bond with 
Alexr Rowland and William Ashley his securities

The committee appointed to settle the estate of Gorton Chace deceased reported

The committee who was appointed to lay off the dower of Delilay Pope widow of 
Henry Pope deceased reported 

The committee who was appointed to divide the estate of Henry Pope deceased 
reported 

Court adjourned untill tomorrow 8 oclock
