County court minutes 1797-1813, North Carolina, Superior Court 
(Robeson County) – 1806-1813

these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved

Ordered that Samuel Hammons be relieved from the obligation that he 
gave to the Court for bringing up an orphan boy by the name of James 
Biggs and that the said boy be also released from his indenture

Ordered that Abram Lawson be overseer of the road in room and 
district of Isaac Lee

Ordered that Israel Campbell be overseer of the Creek in room of 
Noah Mercer

Ordered that Alexander Rowland John McNeill and Robert Haills be a 
committee to examine the accounts of Jacob Rhodes Executor of the 
Estate of Joshua Ammons deceased and report to next Court

James McAlpin appointed Entry Taker for the County who entered into 
bond with Duncan McAlpin and Robert Haills his securities

Thomas Brown Esquire appointed states attorney for this county – and 
entered on the duties of his office as such

Ordered that Samuel Johnson be overseer of the road in room of 
Thomas Waters

Whereas it appears to this Court that Britton Barnes & Elizabeth Atkins 
Administrator & Administratrix of of Joseph Atkins deceased returned 
in their Inventory a plantation of land belonging to the Estate aforsd 
rented out at the rate of seventy three pounds which wou[l]d subject 
them to the payment of the interest on that sum ordered that they shall 
only be liable to the interest as it arises on the interest? installments

Ordered that John Flowers William Sterling and William Ward Esquires 
be a Committee to settle with the Administrators of Joseph Atkison and 
report to next term

Ordered that Samuel Johnson be overseer of the road in room of 
Thomas Waters

Ordered that Alexander Thompson be released from his obligation for 
bringing up Hugh McLean a minor orphan & that the said orphan be 
released from his indenture

Ordered that Benjamin Lee William Moore and William Odum be a 
Committee to divide the land of Josiah Barnes deceased between his 
two orphan children and also to value two negroes belonging to the 
Estate / to wit / Violet and Ibby and that they report to next Court

Ordered that Alexander Rowland Moses Hill & William Sterling be a 
Committee to settle with the Adminsitrators of Charles Pope deceased

Ordered that in future Commissions issue to take depositions on 
application of either of a partie, respect being had to the Rule in the 
Superior Court of the County
