At a Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions opened and held for the 
County of Robeson on Monday the 23d day of November and the 
XXXVII year of American Independence Anno Domini 1812

Present the worshipful James Biggs Archd McNeill & Sherwood Fort 
Esquires

The sheriff returned the Venire facias and the Court selected the 
following gentlemen to serve as Grand Jurors during the term to Wit Mr 
William Humphry foreman James Pitman James Smith Archd 
McEachen James McNatt Duncan Crawfod Charles Thompson John 
Curry Lachlin Ray Daniel Campbell John McPhaill Spencer Caldwell 
James Humphry Lemuel Thompson and James Lewis – John Blount 
was sworn Constable to attend them

Nathan Daniel appointed overseer of the road in room of John Barnes

George Willis Junr appointed overseer of the road in room of Samuel 
Willis

Deed from James McEachern to John Blount proved

Deed from John McEachern to Willis Baxley proved by John Jexon

Deed from Charles Ivey to William Purvis proved by William Brown

Ordered that Elkanah and Jacob Hammons two minor orphans which 
were formerly bound by the Court to Benjamin Blount be released from 
their apprenticeship and restored to their friends It having been made 
appear to the satisfaction of this Court that the said Benjamin Blount 
has not treated them properly according to the terms of their 
indentures  From this order of the Court the said Benjamin Blount 
prayed an appeal to the Superior Court of this County and the same 
was granted to him accordingly

On motion ordered that twenty five shillings be remitted to John Brown 
of the fine imposed on him last term

Administration on the estate of William Barnes decd was granted to 
John Flowers who entered into bond in the sum of two hundred pound 
with William his security

Sarah Edwards a minor now aged eight years was bound to Charles 
Thompson till she arive at the age of eighteen

Bill of sale from John McLean to John McLean proved by James Smith

Deed from James Copeland to James Humphry ackd

Administration on the estate of Benjamin Lancaster deceased was 
granted to Lucy Lancaster who entered into bond in the sum of five 
hundred pounds...with Archd McPhaill and Robert W Lancaster her 
securities – an inventory of the estate was returned
