Robeson County, NC - Marriage of Miss Ethel Walters Mr. J.P. Humphrey, 1916 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Marriage of Miss Ethel Walters Mr. J.P. Humphrey Proctorville, Oct 4----Mr. J.P. Humphrey and Miss Ethel Walters were married on Sept. 26th at the bride's home. Rev. Charles L. Greaves, pastor of the First Baptist church of Lumberton performed the ceremony. The ring ceremony was used. Only a few friends and close relatives were asked and present. Immediately after the wedding the bride and groom left for Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach, St. Augustine and other points of interests in Florida to be away a week or two, after which time they will be at home near Proctorville. It was a very beautiful quiet home wedding. They have many friends who wish them a long and happy life. The bride is the beautiful and accomplished daughter of Mrs. Floretta Walters, and the groom is a farmer, the son of Mr. S.A. Humphrey, a farmer near Orrum From the Contributor: Ethel Jane Walters was born Jan 1896 and died Jul 13 1961. She married Jasper Pittman Humphrey Sept 26 1916. Ethel Jane Walters was the daughter of McDorman Walters and Floretta Surles.
