THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF BRITTON BARNES
 
                                    Novr. The 18 1823
In the name of god Amen
I Britton Barnes of the County of Robeson beaing in perfe-
ct Sound mind and memory thanks be to almighty God
for the same do make and publish this to be my last will
an Testament in manner an form following
 
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife
Rachel Barnes after all my Just debts are paid all
the property that I am poSseSs during her natural Life
and it is my will and desire after the decease of my beloved
wife that one Negro boy named Ben belong to my daughter
Piety also one Negro gal by the name of Nel to belong
to my dughter Delila I give and bequeath unto my
daughter Bashey Seally one Dollar also I give and –
bequeath unto my Daughter Rachel Daniel one Dollar
also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Polly one Dollar
My will and desire is that my son Kennada Barnes
Should have the Land and plantations whare on I now
live after the death of my wife at Two hundred and fifty Dollas to be reduced 
out
of his equal part of the property after the dath of my
wife also to my Sons James Barnes I bequeath one hundred &
fifty Dollars also I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Barnes
one hundred and fifty Dollas also I give and bequeath unto my
son Britton Barnes one hundred and fifty Dollars
to be reduced out of there equal parts as above named
also my will and desire is all the property remaining after

The death of my wife Rachel Barnes to be equally
divided among my Sons and daughters namely
Thomas Barnes    James Barns   Britton Barnes   Kenneda
Barnes, BraSsel Barnes  Charity Jones   Elizabeth Atkinson
My will and desire is that my wife and
Timothy Griffin be appointed Egutor to this my
Last will and Testament in manner and form
