Grooms, Robeson Co NC, found at the NC State Archives, Raleigh, NC Call No. CR083.801.4 State of North Carolina ) Robeson County ( I, John C. Grooms of the aforesaid county and state, being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my lastw will and testament; First. My executor hereinafter named, shall give my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my friend and relatives, and pay al funeral expences, together with all my just debts, out of the first moneys which may come into his hands belonging to my estate. Second. I give and bequeath to my wife Marth Ann Grooms all of my land on which -------- I now reside, containing ninety five acres in Alfordsville Township of the above named State and county for her to have and to hold for her own use and behoof in \ fee simple. Third. It is my wish and desire she my Wife Martha Ann Grooms shall have all Of my personal property of whatsoever Kind there may be at my death, for her To ust it for her own benefit, and despose Of as she may see proper. Forth, As I have allready given to all of my children viz. Calvin B. Grooms, John D. Grooms, Zachariah P. Grooms, Paul Kisley Grooms, Ebb. B. Grooms, Joseph Grooms, and Alexander Grooms, their portion of my property, to each as I felt disposed to give them. I further now provide that each of the above named seven children shall be paid one dollar each out of the moneys coming into his hands from my estate. Fifth, and lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend L. McCallum my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the same – hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. his This July 16, 1902 John C.
