Robeson County, North Carolina--Wills--Malcom McNeill, 1833 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Malcom McNeill In the name of God Amen. I Malcom McNeill being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be to God) do this the eighth day of February, One Thousand eight hundred and Thirty Three make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following, that is to say 1st I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine to have and to hold during natural life One hundred acres of Land Joining Widow (?)albrestts with all the improvements thereon, and the mansion house and kitchen household furniture and all my stock of Cattle, Sheep and hogs but the profit arising from the said stock for the support of the family as they require, a Gig and horse for her and also negroes Beck and (?)ort to wait on her during life. 2nd I give and bequeath to my son James A McNeill negroes Bell and George and a note of hand drawn in his own against Jesse(?) Ford and William Ford of two hundred and forty dollars. 3rd I give and bequeath to my daughter Eleanor McDuffy eight hundred acres of land in Cumberland County joining Hugh Gilmore and Widow Buie's (?) during her life; after her death to be equally divided between her three sons, vz., Nathan Malcom and Hecter McDuffy share and share alike. 4th I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally McArthur negroe Sealy. 5th I give and bequeath to my two grandchildren Cyrus and Ann Eliza Harrington negroe Fanny(?) and her increase Share and Share alike. If the said Cyrus and Ann Eliza be removed by death without heirs, the said Fanny and her increase to return and be equally divided between my two sons John D and Hector G.R McNeill. In case of the death of one, either Cyrus or Ann Eliza (?) the said Fanny and her increase to descend to the surviving heir, either Cyrus or Ann Eliza. 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Brown, negroes Dinah and Henry.- 7th I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann McNeill, Negroes Aliloe and Hugh. 8th I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Negro Martha and One Hundred Dollars to be made up to her out of my Stock or any other way as my Executors Shall See cause within eighteen months after they qualify to this Will. 9th I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Jane Negroe Duffy and One hundred dollars to be given to her by the Executors in three years after they qualify to this Will. 10th I give and bequeath to my son John D. McNeill, Negroes Dan, Flory and Tom with the increase of Flory. Also Six hundred and forty acres of land lying on both sides of the Raft Swamp including his mothers One Hundred Acres to be his after her death, joining his brothers Hector G. R. as the dividing line in the Plat will Show and the said John D. and Hector G. R. to continue together with their Negros til Hector come of age and to support each other and to be educated to read through the Latin language arithmetic and Such part of Mathematics as opportunity ??? ???. (???) and Tabb to continue on the Plantation during like. 11th. I give and bequeath to my son Hector G. R. Negroes Mike Bick and Port after his mothers death, also four hundred acres of Land East of the Cypress Pond as the Plat will Show & also give to my two sons John D and Hector G.R my Mules and horses, Waggons & Ox cart and ? Share and Share alike when Hector G. R comes of age my Library of Books to be equally divided between them after all my Just debts are Satisfied and paid. And I hereby constitute D. McA(??), D. McNeill Jun. and my true sons James A McNeill John D. and Hector G. R. Executors of this my last Will and testament revoking(?) all other heretofore by me made. In witness whereof I Malcom McNeill have to (?) my last Will and testament set my hand and Seal the day and year aabove written. McNair Codicil first, I Malcom McNeill of Robeson County (?) State of North Carolina do make and append this codicil to my Last Will and testament, viz, Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John D. McNeill in addition to that given him Sixtry Acres of Land adjoining Grahams and the heirs of Alexander McNeill (?) being the un divided interest of Daniel Mcneill in and to his mother's dower in the Lands of her deceased husband Alexander McNeill, which land was purchased by me at Sheriff's Sale as may more fully appear by a deed from the Sherriff to me for the Same which was not heretofore (???). In testimony whereof I the said McNeill have hereunto set my hand and affixed My Seal, this Seventh day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and thirty three.
