Of the State of North Carolina and County of Robeson being of Sound and disposing mind and memory (blessed be God) do on this 21st day of May A. D. 1857 make ordain and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to saw. First My Will and desire is that all my Just debts wherever and to whom soever due be paid by my Executors hereinafter named Second I will that my beloved wife Penelope Pitman have the use of the plantation on which I now reside including one hundred acres of Land Known as the Webb land and also including the dwelling house and all out houses during her natural lifetime or widowhood also I will that my beloved wife Penelope have the use of my Sorrel Mare One Cow One Bed and furniture during her Natural lifetime or widowhood. Third It is my will and desire that my two daughters Rebecca and Sidney enjoy the use of the above named property devised to my beloved wife Penelope equally with their Mother so long as they remain Single. Fourth I give and bequeath to my Son Stephen D. Pitman the following Lands and premises to wit One hundred and twenty acres lying on Lumber River adjoining the above Mentioned 100 acre survey devised to my beloved wife Penelope and John Phillips and lying between Lumber River and Peter Swamp. Also one half of the above named one hundred acre survey devised to my beloved wife Penelope after her death to be his and his heirs forever Fifth I give and bequeath to my son Henry W. Pitman the following Lands and premises to wit One hundred acrea lying and between Lumber River the road leading from Matthews’ Bluff on said River to Warwicks Mill the before Mentioned 100 acres devised to my beloved wife Penelope and the lands Known as the Kersey place on Peter Swamp also the other half of the one hundred acre Survey devised to my beloved wife Penelope after her death to be to him and his heirs forever Sixth I give and bequeath to my Son Riley Pitman in a small Branch south east of the long Branch and on the Main road leading from Matthews’ Bluff to Hawthorns (Now Warwicks) Mill and runs up said Branch near the head to a pine thence due Wt. To John Webbs corner a stake and 3 pines Thence No. 10 Wt a direct line to the main run of Peter Swamp thence down said Swamp to where the aforesaid road crosses it then that road to the beginning to be to him and his heirs forever Sixth I give and bequeath to my four daughters to wit Rebecca Pitman Sidney Pitman Penelope the wife of Elias Phillips and Experience the wife of Elijah Ivey Fifty acres of land to be equally divided between them which land is described as follows On the east side of Drowing Creek on Peter Swamp Beginning at a large pine at the lower end of the Island Wm Kersey formerly lived on and runs No 74 degrees Wt 31 Chains and fixty links Thence No 16 Et. 15 Chains and 82 links Thence So 74 East 31 Chains and sixty three links a direct Line to the beginning to be to them and their heirs forever. Seventh and lastly I constitute and appoint my two Sons Stephen D. Pitman and Henry W.
