Will of Jeremiah Walters Sr I, Jeremiah Walters of the State of North Carolina and County of Robeson being advanced in life and calling to mind the uncertainty of my earthly existence, I am manifestedly drawing to my caller and do make and ordain and publish this my last will and testement in matter following to wit. My Soul I remitt to God, who gave it to me and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner according to the discretion of herein after mentioned and the funeral expenses as well as my just debts to be paid by my executor out of any money that comes to their hands belonging to my estate. I give and do bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Ann Walters all my lands lying and being in said county of Robeson on both sides of Old Field Swamp including the Plantation whereon I now reside and all of my improved land containing five hundred and thirty five acres in all, also i give and bequeath unto my loving wife all my negro slaves together with their increase during their natural life to wit. Bristor-Handy-Bauston and a negro woman Lear and her increase. Barbara and her increase and a negro girl Julia and her increase and negro boy Peter- negro girl Froney and increase, also all my household and kitchen furniture together with all my Horses, Cattle, Hogs and Sheep and Stock of all kind and all my Plantation tools and carriages of every sort, wagons, carts and ploughs and also all the gear belonging to each, also all of the Provisions on hand - Corn Bacon, etc.. and at the time of my death to be for the only use and benefit of my beloved wife during of her natural life and after her death to be the proper use and benefit of my son Jeremiah Walters, his heirs ans assigns forever, but if my son Jeremiah Walters dies before his mothers death it is my will and desire that my beloved wife Mary Ann Walters then have one half of my said Estate and dispose of the same according to her own will and pleasure and the other half of my said Estate to be Equally Divided among all my children share and share alike, and if any of my negros become unruly and will not obey their misstress, it is my will that she sell such disobedient negros ad make use of the proceeds of the sale of said negroe that is the money arising from such sale to be used in any what she thinks best. It is my last will and desire that my beloved children, that is to say my son Leonard Moore Walters, Trestram Walters, and my daughters Martha Ann Bethea, Jane McRae and Margaret Jane Weatherly and my son Lorenzo Dow Walters and my three grand children that is to say Elizabeth, Agustus, and Williana Walters they being the children of my son William Walters that all of said children by my first wife including my grand children each have one dollar each of my estate over and above what i have already given them and the said sum of one dollar to be paid to each of them by my Executors after the death of my beloved wife Mary Ann Walters and I here constitute ordain and appoint my tursty friends Allen Walters and Alvin Lewis Executors of this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke all other wills or former wills by me herefore make and do publish this and this only to be and contain My last will and testament.
