Robeson County, NC - Will of Duncan Wilkison, 1826 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of Duncan Wilkison Robeson County 1806—Items that were unreadable were indicated by (?) or -------- In the Name of God Amen I Duncan Wilkison of the County of Robeson in the state of North Carolina being weak in body but sound in mind and memory do constitute, ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following (Viz) last will and testament in manner and form following (Viz) I request that my body be decently buried at the direction of my executors, hereafter named, not doubting but it will rise triumphant in glory and join my soul in happiness on the great day of the Lord; and as to my worldly affairs, I dispose of them in manner and form follow {Viz} In primies (?), I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Christian and her children lawfully begotten by her, the whole of my lands, improvements and lying in said county, agreeable to the bond or marriage contract entered into between us at the time of our espousal with a wish and desire that my son Allen may enjoy and prosper the same in ---------- temple after her death. As also to her and her children aforesaid, thus heirs and apigns(?) flower, my old sorrel mare; the cows with their 6 calves or yearlings, one half of my stock of sheep and stock of hogs, one half of my household furniture and farming utensils; the whole of my crop, -------, the exceptions hereafter named to Malcom and Archd and to her son Allen I give the young sorrel mare his heirs and apigns. I give unto my five oldest children by my first wife (viz) Mary, John, Archd, Malcom and Peggy the remaining part of my stock of all things, household furniture and farming utensils and to Malcom I give thirty bushels of corn and to Archd fifty bushels as now standing in the field, so as they continue to gather and house the whole crop, with their step mother afore said. I also give unto my five oldest children aforesaid by my first wife, all the rest of my property, not there in named; whether notes, money, debts, etc, except ten dollars in cash to be paid to each of my children by my last wife; Christian aforesaid, providing not with standing, that my beloved wife aforesaid shall have the exclusive privilege of killing, as much beef and pork of the stock before divided as will be sufficient to maintain the family for twelve months; and that any debt by me owing and all funeral expenses shall be paid out of the total amount of the property left to the five oldest children aforesaid; and they shall remove their part of the stock, whether horse or ---, so as after my death to be of no molestation to my beloved wife aforesaid. I desire that the ten dollars aforesaid to be paid to each of my younger children be paid to their mother or some carefull friend so as to insure interest on the same till they respectfully come of age. I nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife, my loving son, John, and my true and beloved friends David Lorry and Angues Gilchrist as executrix and executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I her unto set my hand and affix my seal the 6th day of October 1806.
