Blackwell & Lipford Deed This indenture made and entered into this 17th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty-four - Between Joseph S. Blackwell & William Lipford of the one part and Jackson Jones & John Sawyers of the other part all of the County of Rockingham & State of North Carolina - Witnesseth that the said Joseph S. Blackwell and William Lipford for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and fifty Dollars to them in hand paid by the said Jones & Sawyers before the signing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged - has [sic] granted bargained and sold and do by these presents grant, Bargain and sell unto the said Jones & Sawyers their heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and Being in the county of Rockingham aforesaid on the Waters of Hogan's Creek adjoining the lands of Jackson Jones, Miller Nunn & others and bounded as follows (Viz) Beginning at a Hickory Jackson Jones line running thence East 12 chains and 60 links to a Poplar in Samuel Cornwell's line thence with said Cornwell's North six chains and 96 links to a Sawerwood corner with said Cornwell's thence with his line South 86 Degrees East six chains 49 links to a Rock corner Miller Nunn's line thence with said Nunn's North 28 chains 40 links to Rock and Pointers corner with said Nunn in Pinkney Chambers line thence with said line and Chambers North 88 1/2 Degrees West 11 chains & five links to a gum & pointers corner with said Chambers in Jackson Jones line thence with said Jones South one degree West 28 chains 50 links to a Black Oak corner with said Jones. Thence South 80 degrees West 11 chains to a Rock corner with said Jones thence 15 degrees East seven chains 66 links to the first station containing forty-four acres and four links of land the same more or less - Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereto attached as in anywise belonging to have and to hold to the said Jones and Sawyers the aforesaid tract of land to them and their heirs forever and the said Blackwell and Lipford themselves and their heirs do warrant and defend the right and title to the said land to the said Jones and Sawyers against the claims or demands of all persons whatsoever - In testimony whereof he [sic] the said Joseph Blackwell & Lipford hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this the Day and date first above written.
