Rockingham County, NC - Samuel & William Hays Land Division, 1803 ~~~~~~~~~~ Wentworth County Court House Office of Register of Deeds Book I, Pages 63, 64 No. 743 Hays Samuel & William Decd Division 2 parts 100 as State of North Carolina Rockingham County In persuance of an order issuing from the County court aforesaid bearing date August Term 1803 Impowering Abraham Philips, Mark Hardin, Thomas Henderson, Benjamin McFarlin , and Thomas Lowe as Commissioners to divide and appropriate, one hundred acres of land held by Samuel Hays, and the heirs and Legates of William Hays Deceased, as Tennents in common after being duly sworn we proceed to lay off, divide, and appropriate the same in the following manner, and agreeably to the above plat hereto affix That is to say in Numbers. No.1 and No. 2 That is to say, the Lot. No. 1 to the Heirs and Representatives of William Hays Decd and the Lot No 2 to Samuel Hays in Tennents in common. Beginning at a red oak and post oak at the letter A. Thence runing West sixty eight poles to a post oak saplin, thence South along Pleasant Hendersons line one hundred and seventeen poles to a post oak, the corner of No 2, thence with that line East crossing of two branches of Jacobs Creek, sixty eight poles to a black oak the other corner of No 2, thence North crossing of two branches one hundred and seventeen poles to the first station For the Lot No 2 Beginning at a black oak Pleasant Hendersons corner at the letter B. thence North five poles to a post oak the corner of No 1 thence with that line East crossing of two branches of Jacobs Creek sixty eight poles to a black oak, the other corner of No1 thence South crossing a branch forty three poles to a chesnut thence West with Arthur Hays line two hundred and three poles to a post oak, thence north thirty eight poles to a forked post oak, thence East along Pleasant Hendersons line one hundred and thirty five poles to the first station, and contains fifty acres of Land.
