State of North Carolina to James Hays Junr Grant 100 acres   No. 108
To All To Whom these presents Shall Come Greeting
Know ye, that We for and in the consideration of the Sum of Ten Pounds 
for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid in to our Treasury by 
James Hayes Junr  have given and granted and by these presents do Give 
and Grant unto the said James Hays Junr a Tract of land containing One 
Hundred acres lying and being in our County of Rockingham on both sides 
of Jacobs Creek Beginning at a black Oak his NW Corner of another 
Survey thence North Crossing one branch Sixty three poles to a black 
Oak Saplin thence East along John Deavour line Crossing Jacobs Creek 
three times and the long Branch of the Same Two hundred and fifty four 
poles to a post Oak on the side of a Hill thence South Sixty three 
poles to a black Oak thence West along the Same Line Crossing the said 
Creek again to the first Station - as by a Plat hereunto annexed doth 
appear; together with all Woods, waters, mines, minerals, here 
hereditaments
and appurtenances to the said Sand belonging or appertaining To Hold to 
the said James Hays Junr his heirs and assigns forever: Yielding and 
paying to us forth Sums of Money yearly or otherwise, as our General 
Assembly from time to time may Direct Provided always that the said 
James Hays Junr Shall cause this Grant to be Registered in the 
Registers Office of our said County of Rockingham within twelve months 
from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of No effect.
In Testimony whereof We have caused these our Letters to be made patent 
and our great Seal to be hereunto affixed.  Witness Alexander Martin 
Esquire our Governor, Captain General and Commander in Chief at Newbern 
the 20th day of Dec in the XVIth Year of our Independence and in the 
year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred Ninety One.
