Carolina of the one part, and Robert Means of Rockingham County of the other part (Witnesseth) that the said George Hunter for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty five Dollars to him in hand paid (the receipt of which is hereby fully acknowledged) hath granted Bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell, alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Robert Means, one certain tract or parcel of land situated in the County of Rockingham aforesaid on the waters of Hickory & Pattons Creeks, of Mayo River, containing Eighty five acres (more or less) and bounded by the lines of Champion Gibson, William Means the said Robert Means, William Riddle & Richard Grogan. To have and to hold the said tract of land with all the appurtenances privileges and benefits to the same belonging or in every manner appertaining, to the said Robert Means and to his Heirs or assigns forever. And the said George Hunter for himself and his heirs doth covenant and agree with the said Robert Means his heirs or assigns, that he the said Hunter and his heirs, the said land and premises, with all its appurtenances unto the said Means and to his Heirs or assigns forever shall and doth warrant, and will forever defend against the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said George Hunter hat hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal the day and date above written.
