Corbitt jericorbitt@juno.com _________________________________________________________ FHL Film #0019709 Rockingham Co, NC, Deeds Book Q (1815-17) Pp 185-187 No. 2362 Means, Robert - Grant 135 Acres State of North Carolina No. 391 To all to whom these presents shall come; greeting: Know ye, that we, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid into our Treasury by Robert Means, have given and granted, and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Robert Means a tract of land containing one hundred and thirty five acres, lying and being in the county of Rockingham on the waters of the Mayo River. Beginning at a chesnut a corner of William Kellam Jr., thence runing North sixty two poles to a sasafras in the supposed Virginia line, thence East crossing two branches of the papaw one hundred and eighty poles to a large white oak, thence South one hundred and twenty four poles to a B. oak, thence West forty poles to a small chesnut, thence South Twenty six poles to a chesnut in the Widow Smiths line, thence with her line West thirty six ples to a white oak, thence South with another of her lines one hundred and twelve poles to a B. oak, thence West with Enoch Russells line twenty four poles to Killams corner B. oak upon Russells line, thence with Killams line North two hundred poles to a B. oak Killams other corner, thence West with another of Killams lines eighty poles to the first Station. As by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear, together with all woods, waters, mines, minerals, her___________ and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining. To Hold to the said Robert Means his heirs and assigns forever: yielding, and paying to us such sums of money, yearly, or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said grantee shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registering office of our said County of Rockingham within twleve months from the date hereof, otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect. In Testimony whereof, We have caused these our letters to be made patent and our great seal to be hereunto affixed.
