Of the county of Rockingham and State of N. Carolina of the one part - and John MEANS of the county and state aforesaid of the other part: Witnesseth that the sd. Robert MEANS and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds to him in hand paid by the sd. John MEANS the receipt whereof he the sd. Robert Means doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid - hath granted Bargained and sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents for himself and his heirs doth grant bargain and sell alien Release and confirm unto the sd. John MEANS his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres be the same more or less - situate lying and being in the county of Rockingham and State of N. Carolina and on the Waters of the Mayo River which land (To wit) Beginning at Robert MEANSes corner white oak on the Road runing North one hundred and ninety six poles to a post oak thence West forty eight poles to a post oak thence South one hundred and ninety six poles to a post oak on the Road, thence East forty eight poles to the beginning- Together with all houses orchards gardens fences woods and under woods waters and water courses thereon standing growing and being with all their profits comodities advantages and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, and also the reversion and reversions, Remainder and Remainders thereof and of every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the sd. Tract of Land with all and singular the appurtenances unto the sd. John MEANS his heirs and assigns to the proper use and behoof of him the sd. John MEANS his heirs and assigns forever - and the sd. Robert MEANS for himself and his heirs unto the sd land and premises with their and every of their appurtenances unto the sd. John MEANS his heirs or assigns shall warrant and forever defend by these presents against any person or persons having or lawfully claiming any rite or title in or to the same or any part or parcel thereof and the said Robert MEANS for himself and his heirs doth grant covenant and agree to and with the said John MEANS his heirs assigns in manner form following viz - that he the sd. Robert MEANS at the time of the sealing and delivery of these presents in and stands seized and Indefeasible estate in fee simple of and in the premises and that he hath a good and authority to sell and convey the same in manner and form aforesaid and that the same shall forever remain To the sd.
