Between William, Nicholas, Samuel, John & U_l DALTON's heirs of Samuel DALTON deceased of the one part, and Robert MEANS of the other - all of the state of North Carolina, and Rockingham County: Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred pounds by the said Robert MEANS to the said William, Nicholas, Samuel, John & Youal DALTON's Heirs of Samuel DALTON deceased in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged, the said Wm, Nicholas, Samuel, John, and Youal DALTONS Heirs of Samuel DALTON deceased - hath given, granted, bargained and sold unto the said Robert MEANS, his heirs and assigns - a certain piece or parcel of land, lying and being in our county of Rockingham on both sides of long branch of Mayo River. - Beginning at a black oak, on the south side of the long branch, runing thence North one hundred and thirty poles to a white oak, thence West crossing the long branche twice, two hundred and forty seven poles to a white oak, thence south crossing a branch one hundred and thirty poles To a black oak, thence East two hundred and forty seven poles to the first Station - containing two hundred acres of land - To have and to hold the aforesaid two hundred acres of land, with all the appurtenances, and all rights, privileges and improvements To the same in anywise belonging to him the said Robert MEANS his heirs forever - And the said William, Nicholas, Samuel, John and Youel DALTON Heirs of the above Saml DALTON Decd - for themselves and each of their heirs, Executors, Administrator assigns doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Robert MEANS - that the said Robert MEANS his heirs, Executors or assigns shall and may forever hereafter peaceably and quietly have hold occupy possess and enjoy the aforesaid granted lands and premises, without the ____ or molestation of any person whatsoever, and free and clear from all manner of incumbrance whatsoever - and to said Nicholas, William, Saml, John and Youal DALTONs heirs as above, doth oblige themselves their Heirs, Executors & admrs to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid granted lands and premises to him the said Robert MEANS his heirs and assigns forever, against the claim of all persons whatsoever.
