Rockingham County, NC - Robert Nilson Land Grant, 1791 ~~~~~~~~~~ Rockingham County Courthouse Office of Register of Deeds Book D; Page 129 Nilson Robert Grant for 20(0 a ) [not legible based on content] State of North Carolina No. 109 To all To whom These presents Shall Come Greeting Know Ye That We for and in consideration of the Sum of Ten pounds for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid unto our Treasury by Robert Nilson, have Given and Granted and by these presents do give and grant unto this said Robert Nilson a tract of land containing Two Hundred acres. lying and being in our County of Rockingham on both Sides of the pounding Mill Branch, the waters of Jacobs Creek Beginning at a white Oak, thence West crossing two branches of the said Creek along his old Line One Hundred Sixty six poles to a pine in Robert Martins Line, thence South Eighty poles to a post Oak, thence West along this Same Martins Line Eighty poles to a birch on Jacobs Creek Bank, thence South along James Hay's Line Seventy four poles to a white Oak East to & with Samuel Martins Line Tow Hundred & fifty Six poles to a black Oak, thence North One Hundred and twelve poles to a white Oak, thence West Seven poles to another white Oak thence North to the first Station as by the Plat hereunto annexed doth appear; together with all woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditamanets, and appurtenances to the said land belonging or Appertaining To Hold to the said Robert Nilson his heirs and assigns forever Yielding and paying to Us Such Sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct Proved always that the said Robert Nilson Shall cause this Grant to be Registered in the Registers Office of our County of Rockingham within Twelve months from the date hereof, otherwise the Same Shall be void & of No Effect In Testimony whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patent and our Great Seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esq our Governor Capt Genl Governor & Commander in Chief at New Berth 20th day of Dec in the XVI Year of our Independence & in the year of our Lord 1791.
