Rockingham Co., NC Deed Book R, p.459-461 Deed of land made 17 January, 1817 and proved August Session 1818 from John NORMAN to Anderson CROWDER This Indenture made this seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen, by and between John NORMAN of Guilford and Anderson CROWDER of Rockingham, both of the State of north Carolina: Witnesseth, the said John NORMAN for and in consideration of the sum of eighty five dollars to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged [and] hereof doth exonerate discharge and aquit the said Anderson CROWDER his heirs and assigns forever, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Anderson CROWDER a certain tract or parcel of land, situated, lying and being in the county and State aforesaid on the waters of Big Troublesome creek, Beginning at a post oak in John CUMMINGS old line, thence south crossing one branch of the aforesaid creek one hundred and twenty six poles to a red oak in another of CUMMINGS lines, standing on a hill side, thence with his line East seventy poles to a hickory saplin, said CUMMINGS corner, thence with Hezekiah RHODES line North one hundred and thirty eight poles to a post oak, thence West seventy poles to a post oak, thence South to the first station. containing sixty acres of Land be the same more or less ~ Together with all estate, right title Interest property claim and demand whatever of him the said John NORMAN of in and unto every part and parcel of the aforesaid tract of Land and premises and every part thereof, with their and each of their appurtenances thereunto belonging. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and premises hereby bargained and sold to the aforesaid Anderson CROWDER his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John NORMAN to grant he will for himself his heirs and assigns, and every of them forever warrants and defends the above bargained and sold premises unto the said Anderson CROWDER his heirs and assigns forever, against him the said John NORMAN his heirs and all and every other person claiming by from or under him or his heirs, and in witness whereof he the said John NORMAN hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.
