Carolina and County of Stokes of the one part, and Drury Smith of the County of Rockingham and said State of the other part; Witnesseth that the said Humprey Brooks for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty Dollars the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath bargained sold, and by these presents do bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Drury Smith his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying on the South side of Mayo River, containing eighty acres be the same more or less, and bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a Black Walnut tree the corner of the said Smiths own line on the River Bank, thence runing the said Smiths line South on his line to a black oak corner to the said Drury Smith, Robert Means and William Means, thence runing East the said Robert Mean's line to a black oak corner to Theophilus Watkins deceased, thence runing North on the said Watkins line to a maple on the River bank thence runing up the said River as it meanders to the first Station. The reversion and reversions Remainder and remainders, Right and estate Interest and benefit claim or demand whatsoever of the said Humphrey Brooks of in or to the same, or any part thereof. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all their appurtenances to the only use and behoof of him the said Drury Smith his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Humphrey Brooks doth hereby for himself and his heirs Warrant and defend the same forever from the claim or title of any person or persons Whatsoever.
