Corbitt Book Q (1815-17) Pp 145-146 No. 2339 Smith, Francis from Joyce, John deed 12 1/2 acres This Indenture made this Twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, By and between John Joyce of the County of Rockingham of the one part and Frank Smith of the said County of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said John Joyce for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof doth hereby acknowledge, hath Bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Frank Smith, one certain tract or parcel of land, being in the county aforesaid containing Twelve acres and one half be the same more or less, and Bounded as followeth To wit; Beginning at Drury Smiths corner white oak near the Creek above the Mill belonging to the said Frank Smith, thence East ninety three ps along Smiths old line to a double white oak thence South one hundred and Twenty yards to a double black oak, thence West along a new line to a white oak near the Bank of Pawpaw Creek, thence up the said creek crossing the same to a corner chesnut below the Mill, thence Northward to the first Station - with their and every of their appurtenances to the only use and behoof of him the said Frank Smith his heirs or assigns forever, and the said John Joyce doth for himself and his heirs warrant and defend the same forever from the claim or title of any person or persons whatsoever.
