Corbitt jericorbitt@juno.com / JLCorbitt@aol.com ==================================================================== FHL film #0019709 Rockingham County, NC, Deed Book Q (1815-1817) Book Q:160-161 No. 2348 VERNON Richard from JOYCE Peter Deed 74 This Indenture made this 13th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred sixteen, between Peter JOYCE of the county of Rockingham & State of North Carolina of the one part, and Richard VERNON of the county and state aforesaid of the other part (Witnesseth) that the said Peter JOYCE for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & eleven dollars to him in hand paid by the said Richard VERNON, the receipt thereof is hereby fully acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold and do by these presents grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Richard VERNON, his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land, containing seventy four acres more or less, Situate lying and being in the county aforesaid on Sheppards Creek & bounded as followeth to wit: Begining on a double white oak Thomas JOYCES corner on the soap stone hill runing thence South eighty poles to a black oak, thence West crossing one fork of Sheppards creek one hundred and forty eight poles to a post oak, thence North Eighty poles to a black oak, thence East one hundred and forty eight poles to the begining. To have and to hold unto the said Richard Vernon all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the said Peter JOYCE for himself & his heirs doth covenant and agree to and with the said Richard VERNON that he will warrant and forever Defend the right and title of the said land & premises to him & his heirs forever free and clear of the just & lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever.
