The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) March 22, 1898
The final chapter of one of life's disappointing romances was brought to a close
at the depot today when J W Collins came in on 36 with Mrs Nannie B Myers and
delivered her to her husband, who had come down from Reidsville to meet them. Mr
Collins traced Mrs Myers to Greenville and persuaded her to return to her home,
and when last mentioned Crumpton, the lady's paramour, had landed in a Charlotte
jail, while Collins and Mrs Myers had got as far as Charlotte where they became
stranded with only $1.12 between them. Mr Myers had been notified to come to
Greensboro from Reidsville this morning and joining her on the noon train they
returned home together.
