Fayetteville Observer, sw, 04/11/1864
FOR THE OBSERVER.

   Killed at the Battle of Sharpsburg, Md., Peyton Chambers, in the 28th year 
of his age.  Deceased was born in Rockingham county, N. C.; was in all the 
Battles that his Reg't had ever been in up to that time except the battle of 
Williamsburg, when he was absent on detail.  He leaves one brother, (now 
fighting in defence f his country), and aged parents to mourn his untimely 
loss.  Such is a soldier's fate.

He always bore the reputation of being a good soldier --- ever ready to 
discharge his duty when called on.     J. F. C.
