Published in "The Madison Messenger" 25 Sept. 1996 Perry Smith Mayodan - Mr. Perry Andrew Smith, 72, of 273 Peach Orchard Road, Mayodan, died Tuesday, September 17, 1996 at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral service was September 19, at the Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Burial was in the Lewellyn Cemetery in Mayodan. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County, retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service and was a member of the Beaver Island Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Southern Smith of the home; sons, Jerry Smith and Roger Smith both of Mayodan; step-sons Jerry T. Holt of Walnut Cove, Reverend Tony V. Holt of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; brother, Coy Smith of Mayodan; sisters, Carrie Kite, Hallie Smith both of Mayodan, Mildred Hill, Irene Edwards, and Mable Hazlip all of Stoneville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
