Aug 26 1973 Johnny Jack Sparks Stoneville - Johnny Jack Sparks, 56, of Smith Street died unexpectedly Saturday in his home. Funeral plans are incomplete. He was a native of Rockingham County and employed by Baxter Kelly Textile Plant in Stoneville. He was a member of Beaver Island Baptist Church, a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was a veteran of World War II and served with Merrill Marauders in India, Burma and China. He was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are widow, Mrs. Katie Smith Sparks of the home; son, Howard J. Sparks in the U.S. Navy on Guam; sisters, Mrs. William Adkins, Mrs. Jennie Wray, Mrs. Mary Hutchis, Miss Minnie Lee Sparks of Greensboro; brothers, William and James Sparks of Greensboro. The family requests that donations be made to the Beaver Island Baptist Church building fund. the body is at the Ray Funeral Home in Madison pending completion of plans.
