Bowling dgbowling@worldnet.att.net ==================================================================== Elizabeth Bowling Will (possibly wife of Jarrot Bowling) Rockingham Co., NC PG 70-72 16 SEP 1851 I Elizabeth Bowling of the County of Rockingham and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and disposing memory but knowing I must soon go the way of all the Earth do publish this my last will and testament in the following form Item 1st I give my soul to God from whence it came Item 2nd I direct that my body be decently buried and my funeral expenses be paid Item 3rd I direct that all my just debts be paid Item 4th I give to my friend John Robertson two hundred dollars to be paid out of my Estate Item 5th I give to Joannah Carter daughter of Henry Carter my negro woman Rachel and her two children Taylor and Buzela with all their future increase Item 6th I give to Isura? Margaret Carter daughter of Henry Carter my negro girl Angaline with her future increase and my negro boy William Item 7th I give to my Nephew Henry Carter four negro boys Isaac Alexander Eli and Edmond during his natural life and to be equally divided between his living children at his death Item 8th I give to my Nephew Henry Carter my tract of land on which I now live with all my stock of whatever kind with all my Kitchen furniture and Household with all my farming tools and all the grain and all the money and bonds with all the property I may leave behind with whatever kind after the request is distributed to have and to hold during his natural life and to be equally divided between his living children at his death Item 9th I request that my two sisters Delpha Carter and Polly Carter be maintained out of what I give to Henry Carter during their natural life and all the balance to be divided bewtween his children Item 10th I appoint my friend John Robertson and my Nephew Henry Carter Exrs of this my last will and testament whereunto I set my seal in the presence of witnesses this the sixteenth of September in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one Elizabeth (her X mark) Bowling Attest John J. Robertson State of North Carolina Rockingham County Court of Pleas & quarter session May term 1866 A proper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Elizabeth Bowling deceased is exhibited for probate in open Court by Henry Carter Executor therein named and the due execution is proved by the oath of John J. Heggie & John Thomas two of the subscribing witnesses thereto It is therefore considered by the court that the said proper writing and every part thereof is the last will and testament of Elizabeth Bowling and the same is ordered to be received and filed and therefore the said Henry Carter Executor aforesaid came into open court and renounced his right to qualify and it further appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that John Roberston the other executor therein named is incompetent to execute said trust. It is therefore ordered by the Court that letters of Administration with the will annexed be granted to John C. Carter who entered into bond with John Thomas and Henry Carter his securities and took the oath prescribed by law. A R Smith C.C.
