REID DIED STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA ROCKINGHAM COUNTY I Hugh K. Reid of the County and State aforesaid, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following: that is to say: 1st Whereas I did on the 2nd day of October 1889 give to my beloved wife Caroline S. Reid fifty shares of Stock in the Citizens Bank of Reidsville of the value of One Hundred dollars each together with the dividends thereon then accorde and the furniture in the bedroom now occupied by us, to her the said Caroline S. Reid and her heirs and assigns absolutely and the dwelling house and lot now occupied by us in the town of Reidsville together with all furniture in said house as well as the horse and wagon now owned by me or any other substituted therefor to her the said Caroline S Reid for and during her natural life, and at her death to revert to me and my heirs, I do hereby adopt the same as a part of this my last will and testament and hereby affirm the agreement then had between us. 2nd At the death of my wife Caroline S. Reid, I give to my daughter, Nettie Reid the house and lot where we now live and herein before given to my wife Caroline S. Reid, for her life, to the said Nettie Reid and her heirs and assigns in fee - simple forever. Provided that my daughter Carrie Thompson and her husband, W. (N?) C. Thompson and their heirs and assigned shall have the right to use the ally between their lot and the lot hereby given for the purposes of ingress and egress to and from their back lot. This special request is made to my daughter Nettie in consequence of advancements made to my other two children and in order to make them equal. 3rd The balance of my property and estate real, personal and mixed of every kind and description whick I now have or may hereafter acquire, I give, devise and hequeath to my three children Bettie (?) Reid Overman, Carrie Reid Thompson and Nettie Reid share and share alike, to them and their heirs and designs Absolutely and in few simple forever: Lstley: I do hereby appoint my sons-in-law N. (W?) C. Thompson and G. (?) W. (?) Overman as executors and my daughter Nettie Reid as Executors of this my last will and testament. On testimony Whereof do hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this the 16th day of June A. D. 1892 Hugh K. (?) Reid Signed sealed published and declared by Hugh K. Reid as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other do hereto subscribe our names as attesting with messes(?) thereto. This June 16th, 1892 Ruben Reid Hugh R. Scott State of North Carolina Rockingham County > On the Superior Court A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Hug K. Reid deceased is exhibited before me the undersigned Clerk of the Superior Court for said County by N. (W?) C. Thompson, C. H. Overman & Nettie A Harris the executors therein mentioned and the due execution thereof by the said Hugh K. Reid is proved by the oath and examination of Hugh R. Scott and Rueben D. Reid the subscribing witnesses thereto who being duly sworn, doth depose and say and each for himself desposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him purporting to be the last will and testament of Hugh K. Reid that the said Hugh K. Reid in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing now shown as aforesaid and which bears date of the 16 day of June 1892. And the deponent further saith, that the said Hugh K. Reid the testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid declare the said paper writing so subscribed by him and exhibited to be his last will and testament and this deponent did therefrom subscribe his name at the end of said Will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the presence of the said testator. And this deponent further saith that at the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last Will as aforesaid and at the time of deponents subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid the said Hugh K. Reid was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge information or beleif of this deponent and further these deponents say not.
