John WALL Written 22 June 1846 Probated Aug Term 1846 Rockingham Co., NC I John WALL of the County of Rockingham and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make, constitute, and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and following; that is to say 1st that my executrix herein after named shall provide my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and pay all funeral expenses together with all my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the money that may first come into her hands as a part or parcel of my estate. Item 2nd. I give and devise to my beloved wife Jane the tract of Land on which I now reside, two head of horses of her own choice, four head of cattle of her own choice, all my stock of hogs, my one horse waggon and harness with all my household and kitchen furniture of every description and all of my farming tools, with all the crop on hand together with my Negro fellow JACK and my Negro girl MIS_______K during her natural life, and then to the heirs of her body Julia WALL and Lucinda WALL, and should the fellow Jack outlive the two girls, Julia and Lucinda, then to go to Pinckney WALL and Polly WALL and Elizabeth Amelia WALL. Item 3rd. I give and devise to my beloved son Pinckney WALL one lot of Land lying on the waters of little Troublesome Creek adjoining the Lands of Thomas KNIGHT Jr. and Robert BROWN containing eleven acres more or less also one Rifle Gun for which I have paid JEHU LAMB worth sixteen or eighteen dollars. Item 4th. I give and devise to my beloved daughter Polly WALL one lot of land lying on the waters of little Troublesome Creek adjoining the lands of Thomas KNIGHT Jr. and Robert BROWN containing eleven acres more or less and also one bed and furniture or its value in money over and above her distribution. Item 5th. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Amelia WALL all my undivided interest in the BROWN TRACT of land on the head waters of Jacob's Creek adjoining the lands of Jonathan SCALES (or SECILS) and others, also all my undivided interest in the MOSELY TRACT of land on the waters of Jacob's Creek adjoining the lands of James BASON and others, all in the County of Rockingham and State of North Carolina. Item 6th. It is my will that my executrix sell my Negro fellow NATHANIEL and my Negro woman CHLOE , and also my undivided interest in the following tracts of land (to wit) the MOODY TRACT, the JANE CAMPBELL TRACT, and the WILLIAM GRIFFIN TRACT, all lying in the County of Rockingham and State of North Carolina on the waters of Jacob's Creek, and after paying all my debts, the residue to be equally divided between my children Pinckney WALL, Polly WALL, Elizabeth Amelia WALL, Julia WALL, and Lucinda WALL. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Jane WALL my lawful executrix to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament, according to the true intents and meaning of the same and every part and every clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly null and void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. PIGGOTT {State of North Carolina } { Rockingham County } August Term 1846 The executor of the foregoing last will and testament of John WALL decd was duly proved in open court by E. M. WOODBURN one of the subscribing witnesses who also proved the same as to the other witness and on motion admitted to probate and ordered to be recorded. Test L. R. WHEELER, CCC
