Rockingham County, NC - Diamond Family Wills ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DIAMOND FAMILY WILLS--updated 27 Mar 2006 The Diamonds had daughters Sarah Diamond who married Dred Webb & Rachel Diamond who married Stephen Harrel. They both died young. This Rhoda Webb mentioned is not my direct ancestor but she is a daughter of Dred Webb, a brother to my Meredith Webb. ROCKINGHAM CO. N.C. Webb & Rhoda Webb -- their Uncle Thomas Webb of Guilford County. (This is Thomas, son of Benjamin Webb) Also she bequeaths to beloved grandson David Harrel She gives to her beloved sons John & Stewart Diamond my daughter Sarah Webb & Rachel Harrell both deceased had at their marriage their full dowry--it is her will that their husbands DREDD WEBB (definitely says Dredd), and Stephen Harrel have no more but the sum of 5 shillings each. She mentions her brother Jeremiah Pritchett as sole executor of her will-- MARGET DIAMOND‘S WILL--March 3, 1818 Prb May 1819 Sons: John Diamond, Stewart Diamond, Grandson David Harrell. Granddaus: Marget D. Webb & Rhoda Webb-- one beadstead bed and furniture and one Heifer yearling to be lodged in hands of their Uncle THOMAS WEBB in Guilford County. Whereas my daus Sarah Webb & Rachel Harrel both dec'd had at their marriage their full dowry it is my will that their husbands DRED WEBB and Stephen Harrel have no more than Five Shillings. Exr: brother Jeremiah Prichett. Wit: Alexander Nichels, H. Thompson. In the name of God Amen. I, STEWART DIAMOND of Rockingham County State of North Carolina, merchant, being sick and weak in body and of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God, calling into mind the mortality of my body, & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almity God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christain buriel at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the (unreadable) again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate where with it hath played God to bless me in this life, I give, demise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First, I will that all my lawful debts and contracts be paid out of my estate likewise 5 pounds a year and every year to my sister Mary Diamond during her life. Secondly I will that my dear and loving wife MARGARET DIAMOND be(unreadable) of my hole estate during her widowhood so far as to dispose of it among her children; and then after marriage the half of my estate during her life and at her death to be equally divided among my children share? and share? a like to each. She shall have power to dispose of or sell as much of the land as she sees cause to pay the debts. Jeremiah Pritchett is to be ((I think it says Executor of the Estate?) with her then I declare to be my last Will and Testament as witness my hand this 20th day of July 1792.
