A. W. Mangum, Pastor of the Methodist Church in that place, has received the appointment of Chaplain of the Sixth Regiment of the N. C. State Troops, and left last week to join the regiment. Mr. Mangum is highly spoken of as a gentleman and a christian, and as having won by his social and generous disposition, the affection and esteem of the members of all the churches of the community in which he has been residing. It may be hoped that he will be of great usefulness in the field which he has gone to occupy.
