Submitted by: Cindy McCachern McCachern@worldnet.att.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This indenture made the seventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between Daniel Leatherman Esq. and Executor to the last will and testament of Catharine Barrier deceased, relick and widow of Rheadus Barrier deceased of the county of Rowan and state of North Carolina of one part and Henry Grimes of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witness that the said David Leatherman esquire by virtue of the last will and testament of the said Catherine Barrier being duly qualified as the law direction by virtue of the same has given, granted, bargained, sold, ___, convey and confirmed and together presents doth give, grant, bargain sell, ....convey and confirm unto him the said Henry Grimes to him and his heirs forever. One certain tract or parcel of land and premises lying and being in the same County of Rowan situated on the waters of Reedy Creek being the homestead tract and plantation of the said Rheadus Barrier, deceased, beginning at a Hickory the south west corner and runs with Miller to the North twenty one chains and fifty links to a small Hickory thence East twenty nine chains and twenty nine links to a white oak thence North seven chains and fifty links to a stake on the North bank of a branch thence without the same as it meanders near the course of North and East thirty three chains and forty links to a small persimmon in the South bank of LaRue (?) Branch, thence south seven chains and twenty five links to a post oak thence East twenty chains and ten links to a small Hickory the North East corner hence South twenty five chains and fifty links to a stake in Keith's line, the south East orner thence west the old original line to the beginning containing by calculation two hundred and seventeen and a fourth acres be the same more or less together also with all the ways, woods, waters and water coarses with each and every of the appurtencences to the same belonging or that is in any manner of way appertaining with the reversion and reversion the remainder and remainder rents, issues, and profits of the said land and premises and all the estate rights ___, interest claims property and demand whatsoever of him the said Daniel Leatherman, executor, as aforesaid of in and to the said lands and premises hereby granted (to have and to hold all and singular the hereby granted land and premises and every part thereof unto him the said Henry Grimes to to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Henry Grimes his heirs and assigns forever and him the said Daniel Leatherman executor doth for himself anf for the heirs of the said Catherine Barrier, deceased by virtue of her last will and testaments the above described land and premises unto the said Henry Grimes and to his heirs and assigns shall, and will forever hereafter warrant and defend against the challenge, claim or demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever, in witness whereof the said Daniel Leatherman hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
