Philip Howard, Jr. acquired 159 acres on the north bank of the Yadkin River from James Bryan. (Rowan County Deeds, Book 4, p. 739) This Indenture made the 23rd day of July in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred & Sixty two Between James Bryan of Rowan County in the Province of North Carolina of the One Part, and Philip Howard Jur of the same Place of the other Part Witnesseth, That the Said James Bryan for his Part for and in Consideration of the Sum of Thirty Pounds Proc. Money to him in hand Paid by the sd Philip Howard at or before the Ensealing & Delivery of these Presents the Receipt Whereof the said James Bryan doth hereby Acknowledge, and thereof doth Release acquit & Discharge the sd Philip Howard his exrs & Admrs by these Presents, Have Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Released & Confirmed, And by these Presents doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Release and Confirm unto the sd Philip Howard Junr in his Actual Possession now being by Vertue of a Bargain & Sale to him thereof made for One Year by Indenture bearing Date the Day Next before the Date of these Presents, and force of the Statute for Transferring Uses into Possession, and his Heirs, All that Tract of Parcel of Land Situate lying & Being in the County of Rowan Aforesd Beginning at a Black Walnut on the North Bank of Yadkin River, Corner to William Bryant, thence North 237 Poles to a Spanish Oak, thence West 60 Poles to a White Oak, thence North 20 Poles to a Pine, thence West 80 Poles to a sweet Gum, thence South 20 Poles to a White Oak then West 25 Poles to a Box Elder on the River Bank, thence down the Various Courses of the River to the first Station, Containing by Estimation 159 Acres & a half be the same more or Less, It Being Part of a Tract Of Land Containing 319 Acres Granted unto Morgan Bryan by Indenture from John Earl Granville Bearing Date the 29th day of October 1752, and Conveyed from Sd Morgan Bryan unto the sd James Bryan by Indenture Bearing date the Sixth day of January 1753, Reference thereunto had may more fully & at large Appear & [missing] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/rowan/deeds/bryan314gdd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 2.7 Kb
