DEED BOOK 4, Page 243 26 January 1760 This Indenture made the Twenty Sixth Day of January in the Year of Our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty, And in the Thirty third Year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Second, By the Grace of God, Of Great Brittain King, &c. Between Robert Jones Junr. Of the County of Northampton in the Province of North Carolina of the One part and Edward Hunter of Albemarle County in the Collony of Virginia, of the Other part, Witnesseth That the Said Robert Jones, for and in consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred and Ten pounds Virginia Money to him in hand paid by the Said Edward Hunter at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents, the Receipt whereof the Said Robert Jones Doth hereby Acknowledge hath Granted Bargained and Sold Aliened Enfeoffed Released & Confirmed And by these presents Doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff Release & Confirm unto the Said Edward Hunter five Tracts or parcels of Lands situate Lying & being in Rowan County in the Province of North Carolina, On Dan River Containing in the Whole Two Thousand Eight hundred and Eighty Nine Acres, And Bounded as follows, to wit, The first Tract Containing Nine hundred and forty acres, On the North Side of Dan River, Beginning at a White Oak on the River, thence Running West three hundred poles to a Red Oak thence North three hundred and fifty poles to a white Oak, thence East four hundred poles to a Red Oak on the River Aforesaid, thence up the River to the sd. beginning. The Second Tract Containing Three Hundred and Eighty Acres, On the south Side of Dan River Beginning at a White Oak on the River, thence Running south two hundred and Twenty poles to a pine, thence West two Hundred & Sixty poles to a Red Oak on the River, thence Down the Said River to the beginning, the Third Tract Containing Six Hundred Acres, Lying On the South Side of Dan River Aforesd. Beginning at a White Oak On the River, thence Running South One hundred and Sixty poles, thence West four hundred & sixty poles to a Birch on the River Aforesd. Thence down the Said River to the beginning, The Fourth Tract Containing Three hundred and Sixty Acres, on the North of Dan River, Beginning in Hunters line on the River, thence Runing North by his line to a white oak his Corner thence West to Mayho River, thence Down the sd. River to Dan River Afsd. Thence Down Dan River to the beginning, And the Fifth Tract Containing Six Hundred and Nine Acres, On the North Side of Dan River including a Small Island, Beginning on the River in McClains line, thence by his line North to his Corner, thence West five hundred and twenty poles, thence South two hundred and thirty poles, thence East by Watkins’s line to Dan River Afsd. Thence Down the sd. River to the beginning And Also, the Reversion and Reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents Issues and Services thereof, And Also, All the Estate Right title Interest property Claim & Demand whatsoever of him the Said Robert Jones of in or to the Said premises, And of in and to Every part And parcel thereof, To have and To hold the Said five Tracts or parcels of land and premises Above-mentioned, unto the Said Edward Hunter his Heirs and Assigns, unto the only proper Use and behoof of him the Said Edward Hunter his Heirs & Assigns for Ever, And the Said Robert Jones for himself his Heirs Exrs. & Admrs. Doth Covenant & Grant to & with the Said Edward Hunter his Heirs & Assigns by these presents That he the sd. Robert Jones and his Heirs any thing having or Claiming in the Said Five Tracts of Land and premises Abovementioned, or any part thereof, Shall and Will from time to time And – At all times hereafter, Upon the Reasonable Request & at the Cost and Charges of the sd. Edward Hunter his Heirs and Assigns Make do and Execute, Or Cause or procure to be made done and Executed, All & Every Such Other and further Act & acts thing and things Device & Devices Conveyance and Conveyances in the Law whatsoever for the further better and more perfect Granting Conveying and Assuring of all and Singular the sd. five Tracts of Land & premises mentioned, with their Appurtenances unto the Said Edward Hunter his Heirs & Assigns to the Only proper Use & behoof of the Said Edward Hunter his Heirs and Assigns for Ever According to the true Intent and Meaning of these presents, As by the sd. Edward Hunter his Heirs or Assigns, Or his or their Council Learned in the Law, Shall be Reasonably devised Advised or Required, And further, that he the Said Robert Jones & his Heirs the sd. five Tracts of Land & premises Abovementioned, unto the Said Edward Hunter his Heirs & Assigns shall & Will Warrant & for Ever Defend by these presents.
