Martin Armstrong to Alexander Martin - 1770 - Rowan County, NC - Deeds Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Francie Lane ALEXANDER MARTIN Purchased from MARTIN ARMSTRONG ROWAN COUNTY, NC DEED BOOK 7, PAGE 335 15 SEPTEMBER 1770 This Indenture made the Fifteenth Day of September, in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and seventy Between MARTIN ARMSTRONG of the County of Rowan and province of North Carolina, Gentleman, of the one part, and ALEXANDER MARTIN of the County & Province aforesaid, Esquire, of the other part. Witnesseth That for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds proclamation money to the said Martin Armstrong in hand paid by the said Alexander Martin at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt and payment is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, convey and confirm unto the said Alexander Martin his Heirs and Assigns forever, all that piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the Township of Salisbury in the County and province of aforesaid, Beginning at Armstrong’s corner on the line of the Town Land Forty nine poles & a half South from the corner of William Williams’ land, running thence with the said line south Fifty eight poles & a half to a Hickory original Corner to the Town line; Thence West with the Town line, Twenty six poles to a stake; Thence North Fifty Eight poles & a half to the corner of John Armstrong’s Land; Thence with his line East Thirty six poles first Station, containing by estimation Thirty Acres be the same more or less being part of 20 acres of land granted & confirmed unto Martin Armstrong by Hugh Fonton, Surveying Trustee for said Town as appears of record, etc. with the appurtenances situate lying and being aforesaid with their and every rights member appurtenances whatsoever and the reversion & reversions, remainder & remainders and singular the said lands, tenements, hereditaments & premises hereby granted to be granted and of every piece and parcel thereof and all rents, issues owing & to them or any of them; or any part or parcel of them or any of them incident, belonging, appertaining: And also, all and every the estate & estates, rights, titles, claims & demands whatsoever of him thereto. Martin Armstrong into or out of the said tenements, hereditaments & premises whatsoever hereby granted or mentioned to be granted or any of them, or any part or parcel thereof. To have and to hold the said lands tenements, hereditaments & premises hereby granted, with their appurtenances to the said Alexander Martin, his Heirs & Assigns, to the only proper use and behoof of the said Alexander Martin, his heirs and assigns for ever and the said Martin Armstrong for himself his heirs, Executors, Administrators, doth hereby promise, covenant and agree, that he the said Martin Armstrong his Heirs, Executors & Administrators, shall and will at all times, warrant and forever defend the said premises to said Alexander Martin his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims or demands whatsoever, whereof the above mentioned premises might or may be affected or incumbered, contrary to the true intent and meaning of these presents.
