He was born in Rowan County, NC and his record is taken largely from the information in his Revolutionary Pension File in Washington. (Pension W 10315) He married Mary ____ in South Carolina, 20 Feb 1785, ceremony by Magistrate Luckey. He served in February 1780, and September 1781 in Rutherford County, NC. His service in 1780 was first under Captain Kuyskendal, and later under Lieut. Thos. French and Capt. Enocks in the regiment of Colonel Moffett. He was taken prisoner and afterward exchanged. He stated he moved to Kentucky in June 1782 and that he served there under Capt. McAffs in 1782; Capt. Woods in 1783; Capt. Fork in 1782. Later he served under Capt. Simon Kenton. He claimed the record of his birth was in the Bible of his father. After he had lived in Kentucky he moved to Sullivan County, Indiana, where he applied for a pension 6 May 1833. One affidavit said he first moved to a Bourbon County, Ky. He said he lived in Washington Co., Ky in 1803-1805.
