Rowan County, NC - James Bell Revolutionary War Pension, 1832 ~~~~~~~~~~ Mrs. E.G. Gooding Shoanhone, Idaho Madam: I advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim S.2971 it appears that James Bell was born in 1760 in Rowan County, North Carolina. While a resident of Rowan County he enlisted and served as a private in the North Carolina Troops as follows: In 1780 for ten days in Captain William Bell's Company, Colonel Francis Locke's Regiment and was at the battle of Ramsour's Mill. In the summer of 1780 for three months in Captain Huggins' Company and was at the battle of Camden. In the spring of 1781 for three months in Captain William Bell's Company, Colonel Francis Locke's Regiment. In the summer and fall of 1781 for three months in Captain James Cathy's Company, Colonel Harris' Regiment. From 1779 to the end of the war he also served three months at various times as a minute man. He was allowed pension on his application executed October 8, 1832 while living in Rowan County, North Carolina. In 1834 he moved to Gibson County, Tennessee. There are no data on file as to his family. The history above is that of the only soldier by that name found on the Revolutionary War records of this bureau who served in the North Carolina Troops. Respectfully, E.W. Morgan Acting Commissioner Source: HeritageQuest Online ______________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
