Rowan County, NC - William Bell Revolutionary War Pension, 1832 ~~~~~~~~~~ Archibald F. Bennett Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Sir: I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W.446 it appears that William Bell was born December 25, 1759 in Rowan County, North Carolina. While residing in Rowan County he enlisted and served as a private with the North Carolina Troops as follows: From October 1779 five months in Captain Jacob Nichols' Company, Colonel Francis Locke's Regiment; in 1780 two months in Captain David Caldwell's Company, Colonel Davy's Regiment and two months in Captain William Armstrong's Company, Colonel Locke's Regiment; and later in Captain Caldwell's Company, Colonel Samuel Bryant's Regiment, no dates to this last tour of service given. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 18, 1832 while a resident of Sumner County (near Gallatin), Tennessee. He died June 17, 1845. He married December 30, 1784, Sarah (her maiden name not given) who was born May 11, 1768. She was allowed pension on her application executed October 2, 1847 while living in Sumner County, Tennessee. Children of William and Sarah Bell: Jince Bell born December 12, 1785, married January 26, 1804, Stephen White Polly Bell born December 5, 1786, married February 28, 1811, Richard Bennett Robert Bell born March 19, 1789, married June 5, 1816, Margaret Gready John Bell born Decmeber 12, 1790 Betsy Bell born November 4, 1792, married February 24, 1814, William Bennett Alfred Bell born August 16, 1794, married July 5, 1821, Jane Haynes Hirim Bell born October 5, 1796 Eli Bell born August 1, 1798, married October 12, 1820, Sarah O.
