HUGH R. COLTER, in his office of Constable, undertook to serve a warrant for a debt of about 20 shillings, upon the body of THOMAS LAITON; LAITON resisted the service, seized a loaded musket, and discharged the contents, the muzzle of the gun being about a foot from MR. COLTER, into his leg - his leg is literally cut off being apprehended by a few tendons. The shattered bones were picked up in handfuls by the attending surgeons. His leg will be amputated above the knee. There is but little hopes, we understand, that MR. COLTER will survive his wound. LAITON is safely lodged in the Orange County gaol.
