   MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT -- We regret to learn that RICHARD H. ALEXANDER, ESQ., 
formerly of Salisbury, fell from the third story of his boarding house in 
Mobile, Ala., on the night of the 24th ult, and was so much bruised that he 
died a few hours afterward. It is impossible to ascertain how the accident 
occurred, but it is presumed that he was sitting in the window and 
accidentally fell asleep. A private letter states that the window sill 
exhibited marks of great effort to save himself. He has left many friends and 
relatives to mourn is loss.
